Haitian American Friendship Foundation (HAFF) is equipping Haitians and Americans through Christ-centered education and compassion ministries.

Several people have asked about the most immediate needs facing our Haitian employees, students, and other people who are a part of HAFF in Haiti. This is an ever-moving target as the most basic life necessities are in flux from day to day. The best way you can help our people is by giving to the HAFF General Fund. That way, we can use these contributions for whatever the greatest need is at the time. Thank you for your prayers and gifts during this tumultuous time for our Haitian brothers and sisters in Christ! You can give here: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/haitianamericanfriendshipfoundation
It's a match! If you work at Caterpillar, now is the time to support HAFF! $50 will feed a student for a year! $500 will feed 10 students for a year! Read our latest blog post to learn how! https://www.haff.org/post/it-s-a-match
In recent weeks, the gangs moved northward to Mirebalais which is about 1.5 hours from our campus. Because of the gangs movement, even more displaced people have moved northward to places like Pignon and Bohoc where HAFF is. Many of our Haitian employees, our brothers and sisters in Christ, are now housing family members who have been displaced. Please pray for safety, security, and provision! Also, pray for Missionary Flights International (MFI) as they remain our safe way in and out of the country.#HAFFHaiti
A highlight from our most recent team of visitors was our Pastor's Conference! Many area pastors and their wives came for breakfast and then half a day of biblical marriage training led by HAFF director, David Selvey, and Pastor Josh Pyper. What a privilege it was to meet these men and women dedicated to sharing the gospel and making disciples on the central plains of Haiti. Dr. Selvey and Pastor Pyper were both energized after half a day teaching, worshipping, and praying with these brothers and sisters in Christ! We celebrate that Jesus unites us in one purpose that transcends all other barriers! We know God will do great things from this conference!

2024 in brief
In our Godly Women class, we had to delight of Michelle, a member of our most recent visiting team, coming to our godly women class. The women showed their projects they are working on and sang together. Then, we asked Michelle to share her story of domestic abuse in her marriage and how she and her son got away. She told about the sovereignty and protection of God. Many young, single women attend the Godly Women class, and they were able to learn signs to watch for from the men they consider marrying to know if the men are loving or might be abusers. A palpable connection between the women was present, even with a language barrier, as they all realized that despite culture and geography, we all have trials and tribulations, and we all need God to rescue us. What a touching and beautiful class it was!

Lunches in Haiti are a bit different than what we might be used to! The system is unique, with some students bringing their own containers while others use the school’s containers. Despite the differences, our main goal remains the same: to feed as many students as possible each day.We are incredibly thankful for each and every one of these students and for your continued support in making this possible. Your generosity helps us nourish both their bodies and their spirits as we teach them important earthly things and even more important eternal things.Thank you for being a part of this mission!#HAFFHaiti #IPB #schoollunches #KingdomWork
We have some exciting news to share about the school buildings at HAFF! Built over 40 years ago, the wear and tear of time has certainly taken its toll both inside and out. While we've been able to repaint a few rooms, so much more work has been needed. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we received 22 five-gallon buckets of high-quality indoor-outdoor paint! You can just imagine our joy this paint has given us! Smiles everywhere! A team of Americans is coming in February to help paint some of the rooms we've recently re-stuccoed, while other donors have provided the funds to re-stucco the outer walls as well.We are so grateful for the opportunity to give these buildings a much-needed facelift, and we pray that it will not only enhance the space but also lift the hearts of those who learn and serve within these walls. We want our hearts to constantly be lifted to the face of God our Father.#HAFFHaiti #IPB #KingdomWorkThank you for being a part of this transformation! We will have additional updates soon!
Every year, churches in Indiana generously send Christmas bags to HAFF and various other Haiti missions. This year, due to some delays, the bags traveled by ship and only recently cleared customs in Cap Haitian, which has better security at the northern port.We are so grateful to God that, in the midst of the ongoing challenges and suffering in Haiti, our staff was able to share this special excitement with their families. Your continued support makes this possible, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of this mission.

Our phone cameras can’t capture all the stars we see at night on the HAFF campus because there are no other lights. However, this twilight photo shows Dr. Patricia’s cozy house under the moon and a first star. The grandeur of nature reminds us that God is still in control and still blesses Haiti with many moments of peace and beauty despite violence and poverty.

Meet Richdson, one of our night guards! He and our other guards dress pretty warmly during the months of December and January when temperatures get down as low as 58 degrees at night. That might not seem cold to you, but it's cold for us in Haiti! No one has heaters, and houses with open crevices are especially cold when there are night breezes. Please pray for the many young people who sleep on the floor without sufficient blankets. Happily we see many more staff and students with sweatshirts, sweaters and jackets than 20 years ago!

The first day of the new trimester at our secondary school, IPB, was today. While teachers have had lots of tests to correct, students have been off since the end of first trimester exams – December 12th or earlier. Haitian families make great sacrifices to put children in school, including regularly missing meals. Please pray for students to be appreciative of those sacrifices and to be spurred on by the results of their first trimester grades to be more serious both in school and when studying at home.

The Eyeglass Clinic is back in full swing! I (Dr. Patricia Lyon) along with the help of my translator, Jocelyn, opened the weekly Eyeglass Clinic once again now that I'm back in Haiti. Thank you for all who have donated reading glasses! One woman brought a eyeglass prescription, and we were able to closely match her prescription with bifocal glasses thanks to your generous gift. A second woman was excited to be able to read her Bible better now with reading glasses. It's a good start to 2026!

This year has been one for the books at IPB, our secondary school. By mid-December, we had 415 students compared to last year's 361. This growth was unanticipated, but we are ready to embrace where God has led us.Just two years ago, we had only 36 students in each 7th grade class. Now, we have 72 students in each section! This is 100% growth. This huge growth in the student body... Check out our new blog post!

This year, will you and your family or church commit to praying for one of our students at IPB? They face so many hurdles and challenges, and in spite of these, they persevere. Will you pray for their education, future opportunities, immediate provisions, and salvation or spiritual growth? If you will commit to praying, you can comment or private message, and we will give you the name of a student who will be yours for 2025!#HAFF #Hait #IPB #schoollife #Kingdomwork
During this last week before school starts, several teachers continue to work on correcting final tests from the first trimester so that report cards can be given out soon. Please pray for a good start to the second semester and pray for special grace for the 7th grade teachers who have 72 students in both sections of 7th grade (7A and 7B). Certain classes in IPB increased greatly due to taking in students from Port-au-Prince. We know God is at work and doing big things here in Haiti!

Did you know that in the US, 85% of the people who become Christians do so between the ages of 4 and 14? Reaching children for Christ is imperative. Our school in Haiti, IPB is a crucial ministry to assure certain youth become Christians. We are looking for an Education Director who can develop and teach ELL lessons, aid in teacher selection and development, and oversee our work-study program. We provide on campus housing! If you're interested in this position or learning more, please look at the job opportunities at https://www.haff.org/jobs Prayerfully consider if God can use you in Haiti or if He has placed people in your life who may be used in Haiti!

Carla recently began teaching an English conversation class for 8th graders who want to come over the vacation twice a week and perhaps after school once a week. When beginning new endeavors like this, we are never sure what the response will be. We were all surprised when 28 students showed up the first day, and a solid 15 returned the second time! Speaking English gives our students a huge leg up for jobs when they graduate high school and also for entrance into university. Please pray for continued interest and discipline by our students to learn English well and also for gospel opportunities through this conversation class!
Merry Christmas from all of us at HAFF to all of you! Thank you for your love and support through this year. We hope and pray you have a very merry Christmas!

Our student, Samuel, says, "My family is poor. Some days, we don’t eat at all. On other days, we might have just one small meal. But on school days, HAFF provides me with a good lunch! I dream of getting a good education so I can support my family and help my community. I am so thankful for HAFF, which gives me the tools to prepare for university. Those lunches are crucial; without them, I struggle to concentrate. There are days when food is too scarce, so school is dismissed at lunchtime because no one can focus. Thank you for giving me the chance to learn and grow."Will you be a part of giving lunch to Samuel and our other 364 students? Please give today for Giving Tuesday!https://www.haff.org/give#GivingTuesday #HAFF #Haiti #HAFFHaiti #IPB #Schoollunches
Today is the day!!! Our students need your gifts to help keep them fed and able to learn! Just $49 will feed a student lunch at school for an entire month! Every little bit helps. Will you contribute to our Giving Tuesday campaign? Help us meet our goal of $17,885!
https://www.haff.org/give#givingTuesday #HAFF #Haiti #HAFFHaiti #IPB #SchoolLunches
ONE DAY UNTIL GIVING TUESDAY and we are seeking to raise $17,885 to help cover one month's worth of meals for our school's 365 students! We hope you can contribute! For just $49/month, a student can eat lunch every day at school! While you're looking through your finances to see how much you can contribute, I want to share what HAFF is doing to alleviate poverty in Haiti. Students need food, yes, but food simply gets someone to the next day. However, in our school, food gives the necessary fuel our students need to learn. Without it, students leave mid-day because they are simply too tired to continue. School is the potential path out of poverty. In the beginning going through IPB (secondary school) enabled students to get trade jobs. Now it helps them get into college which opens countless more doors. And because we teach the students English, many can go on to be translators which is wonderful work, especially in the interim between secondary school and being accepted into college. We feed our students so that they can learn and change the trajectory of their lives! And we get to share the gospel while doing it! God is so good!So please, give what you can tomorrow! Help change lives on the northern plains of Haiti!#HAFF #Haiti #HAFFHaiti #IPB #GivingTuesday #Schoollunches
Whether or not you can contribute to our Giving Tuesday campaign to help provide school lunches for our students, we want to ask each of our followers to contribute in prayer. If you and your family will commit to praying for one of our students for the end of 2024 and the 2025 school year, please comment below, and we will give you the name of your student. You can pray for
1. Salvation/spiritual growth
2. Provision of physical needs like food
3. Protection
4. Opportunity, especially as they finish secondary school and apply for college or jobs
Thank you for loving our students!!!!

Thank you for praying for students and teachers as they reviewed last week for the first trimester final exams that will be held this week and next. Please continue to pray that students will get enough sleep and find enough to eat so that they can test well! Please pray for those who help keep our students encouraged, focused and motivated to do their best. #HAFF #Haiti #IPB #supportourchildren
Please pray for our students as they review for next week’s trimester final tests. Haiti started school a month late and students have been trying to catch up since. Pray that especially our younger students (7th-9th grades) learn and study well at home and in their clubs so they can lay a good foundation for the rest of the year. And pray that everyone will stay healthy for the next 3 weeks! #HAFF #Haiti #IPB #Supportourchildren
Our students at IPB (HAFF's school in Haiti) are given a leg up through their secondary education. They have an excellent pass rate on annual testing, and because they learn English, many of our students are able to go on to college, trade jobs, and interpreter jobs. Our students go into adulthood with more opportunity than generations before them. As our Haitian staff and missionaries work hard to help our students begin edging out of generational and societal poverty, they also get to share the gospel freely. God is at work on the northern plains of Haiti, and we marvel at being called to be His servants in this part! Will you please pray for our students - not just in their education but in their all-important need of restored relationship to God forever through Jesus as their Savior?

After three American planes were hit by bullets at the Port-au-Prince airport, the FAA stopped all US airplanes flights to Haiti for 30 days after November 12. HAFF and other missions in our area praise God that the FAA is now allowing flights into the northern part of Haiti. Please pray safety for HAFF missionaries Colin and Carla Wilson and Dr. Patricia Lyon as they begin their plans and travel back to Haiti and praise God that
flights can now bring people and vital cargo to the Pignon area. God always provides, and we are constantly in awe of Him!

Help us bring clarity to Haiti! For over 20 years, the HAFF Eyeglass Clinic has been a beacon of hope for those in need, thanks to the dedication of missionaries like Connie Curilla, Colin & Carla Wilson, Kathy Deruisher, and currently, Dr. Patricia Lyon.Dr. Patricia and her translator have been serving the community for the past three years, providing essential reading glasses, sunglasses, and over-the-counter eye drops to patients from St. Raphael to Hinche, and even Port au Prince. Our clients need these glasses to read their Bibles and complete hand embroidery work
(a necessity to provide for their households). Each pair of reading glasses costs each client just 10 Haitian dollars (about $0.38 US), making them accessible to many. However, our supplies are low. We are currently in urgent need of reading glasses in the following strengths: +1.50, +2.00, and +4.00 and higher.Your support can make a real difference! If you can help, please consider donating reading glasses or sending monetary donations to:HAFF Eyeglass Clinic

🍽️ Hunger’s Toll on Haiti’s Children 🍽️
Starvation’s impact goes far beyond an empty stomach. It affects our children’s minds, their ability to learn, and even their health. For many of us fortunate enough to have regular access to food, this may be hard to fully grasp. But for the children at Institut Pratique de Bohoc (IPB) in Haiti, food insecurity is a daily struggle that affects every aspect of their lives. Negative effects of hunger includeNegative impact on concentration
Decreased academic performance
Increase in behavioral issues
More frequent illnessFor many of these students, the meal they receive at school is often their only meal of the day. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we have been able to provide nourishing lunches to help them focus, learn, and thrive. We want to continue providing meals to our students and hope you will consider giving on Giving Tuesday! Just $49 will feed a student for an entire month!Your support is making an incredible difference. Thank you for ensuring these children don't go hungry. 🙏💖#HAFF #Haiti #IPB #SchoolLunches #EndingHunger #FoodAccess #SupportOurChildren #GivingTuesday

Exciting News from The Godly Woman (Bon Fanm) Class! Our amazing group continues to meet every Tuesday, and this week we dove deep into Proverbs 31:10-31. We also explored I Samuel 1:4 and Proverbs chapter 7, enriching our understanding of these powerful scriptures. Developing an understanding of God's Word helps provide spiritual nourishment to the women on the plains of Haiti. In addition to our studies, the women had a industriously been honing their sewing skills! Sewing is a part of physical livelihood in Haiti. We are blessed by God to be able to meet both physical and spiritual needs through Godly Women.
